Utah Charter Schools Program (CSP)

Key Objectives of the Utah CSP-SE Grant

  • Catalyzing Growth and Addressing Community Needs: Over five years, the program aims to create 5,000 seats between 5 new charter schools, 5 replicating high performing charter schools and 10 expanding high quality charter schools, focusing on underserved communities and educationally disadvantaged students, ensuring that Utah's charter schools meet the diverse needs of families statewide.
  • Strengthening Authorizing Practices: Improving authorizing processes to balance support with accountability, ensuring school success and strong oversight.
  • Disseminating Best Practices: Recognizing the transformative potential of effective charter schools, the program will share successful models and practices with other charter schools and traditional public schools, improving Utah's education system.
  • Fortifying Leadership Pipelines: Developing high-capacity charter school leaders equipped to meet the challenges of innovative education.
  • Engaging Stakeholders: Ensuring schools reflect the needs of the communities they serve by fostering collaboration among parents, educators, and local leaders.
  • Supporting Charter Boards: Providing tailored training and resources to enhance governance, empowering charter school board members to govern effectively.
  • Encouraging District-Charter Collaborations: Promoting partnerships that benefit students across both charter and traditional public school sectors.
