Finance/Budget Expertise - Statewide

Hi my name is Steve Finley. I have a Bachelors of Accounting and a Masters of Accounting with and emphasis in Tax and Non-Profit/Governmental. I have been the business manager or overseen the business manager for 23 of Utah’s charter schools, over the past 8 years. My children are among those who have been able to benefit from a charter school. I didn’t enjoy school growing up (don’t judge me J) but my 5th grade son prefers school over summer vacation which baffles my mind and makes me grateful for charter schools and the experience he is having. My passion in life is to help. My skills are with numbers and organization. These two factors allow me to help charter schools be financially sound which in turn lets teachers and administrators focus more of their attention on the kids.

Administrative Expertise - Statewide

Mr. Richard (Rick) Veasey comes to you from Bradenton, FL where it never snows, and shorts and sandals are worn year round. There he taught Math at the middle and high school levels for several years and had many leadership opportunities.

He earned his B.S. degree in Management Information Systems from the University of South Florida (USF). While finishing this degree he was offered a part-time math teaching job at a middle school. After just one year of teaching, he knew this is where he needed to be. He later earned his Master’s degree in Education Leadership from USF.

He and his family live in the Saratoga Springs area and love serving in the community. He has several years of Charter school teaching and administrative experience and works hard to ensure student success.

His office wall has the following quote written and it motivates him and the influences the way he works for kids and schools: “Each and every day, each and every child; you have the power, the passion, and the knowledge to make a difference. Each and every day, each and every child.”

He was awarded Director of the Year by UAPCS in 2013 and has a proven success record in leading charter schools in Utah.

Admin Mentor

I am thrilled to be part of the UAPCS Mentor Team and to play a role in supporting charter school administrators in their important work.  I have been involved with charters schools for the past 11 years, after returning to Utah from England, where I was teaching in the British school system while my wife completed her graduate degree. Since that time, I have helped open and operate three successful charter schools in Utah. I find a lot of energy, excitement, and satisfaction in being involved with a “start-up” project. Prior to discovering charter schools, I worked in both private and district schools, teaching a wide range of age groups and classes ranging from A.P. classes to teaching 1st graders. I have also instructed at the university level as an adjunct professor. I graduated from BYU with a B.A. Degree in Secondary Education and a M.A. Degree in Teaching & Learning. I successfully completed the Educational Leadership: Administration & Supervision Praxis Exam. In my free time, I enjoy long walks with my wife and two teenage children, as well as hiking, camping, traveling, listening to NPR, cooking, going to movies, and laughing. I love to laugh every single day!

Jennifer has three children, two of whom attend Mountainville and one who is in a district school. Her experiences as a parent drove her to become an advocate for school choice. Jennifer is a BYU alumnus, but cheers loudly for Uof U football. She can also be found most Saturdays on a lacrosse field with her son who is an avid player.
