Hello fellow charter enthusiasts! My name is Anya Yeager. I began my career in
education as a teacher with Carmel Unified School District in California. After
moving to Utah 15 years ago I held an administrative position with the Utah State
Office of Child Care as a Quality Improvement Consultant and, for the last decade,
I have served in the charter school world. During that time, my proud professional
moments have included earning the title of ‘Charter School of the Year’ 2013 and
‘Rookie of the Year’ 2015 with George Washington Academy. I currently hold an
executive position with Williamsburg Learning, which oversees several charter
schools including Leadership Academy of Utah. I am a strong supporter of school
choice and the role that UAPCS plays in supporting all of the amazing charter
school options we have here in Utah. If there is anything I can do to help better
support you in your endeavors, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Your work
makes a difference.
Mandee was a founding board member and building officer at Lakeview Academy and holds a degree in Accounting from Utah Valley University, with an emphasis in internal audit. As the Operations Director at Charter Solutions she offers support to charter school boards as they move through the startup process and learn how to properly govern a public school.
As a father of eight children, I know personally of the value of education and the lasting impact a teacher or administrator may have upon a child. I have been involved with UAPCS for nearly five years, in support of Zions Bank’s sponsorship of the association and Charter School University trainings. I have come to appreciate the training and advocacy work the association does, and would be delighted to volunteer of my time to serve on the board, in support of Utah charter schools. With an MBA in Finance and nearly 15 years of commercial banking experience, I bring a unique business and finance perspective, in addition to knowledge of charter school dynamics across multiple states, that would benefit UAPCS. I believe that continued emphasis is needed on helping to build the self esteem of each student, and preparing them with the skills needed for success in a 21st century career.

Why do you want to be on the UAPCS board?
I have served for the past three years on the board. Having learned a great deal and appreciated the great work the UAPCS Association is involved in on behalf of all Utah charters, I would like to continue to represent our schools on the board.
What specific skills and knowledge can you bring to the board?
Leading a charter school from its early establishment to a full K-12, three campus organization over the past 15 years has allowed me experience in all areas of charter education. Working with families, employees, governing boards, community organizations and all stakeholders has honed my knowledge and skills in understanding what the charter community needs and deserves in educating Utah's children. As a strong advocate of educational options, I recognize and support candidates and legislation that move our work forward and to higher levels than ever before.
What do you feel are the biggest challenges charter schools face?
Funding equity, attracting and retaining qualified educators and state reporting requirements that can be reduced and simplified.
Please share your prior governing board experience.
15 years working directly with, and guiding our school Governing Board as well as three years of service on the UAPCS board.
